Olly Stone Six-For Gives Nottinghamshire 169-Run Lead at Surrey
Olly Stone took 6-44 as Nottinghamshire bowled Surrey out for 162 at the Kia Oval. The visitors reached 147-3 in their second innings to lead by 169 runs at stumps on day two.

Olly Stone claimed six wickets as Nottinghamshire took control of their County Championship match against Surrey at the Kia Oval. BBC Sport reported that the England fast bowler finished with 6-44 from 21.3 overs, helping dismiss Surrey for 162 before Nottinghamshire reached 147-3 in their second innings. The visitors led by 169 runs at stumps on day two.

Watch the highlights:

Nottinghamshire had made 184 after being sent in on the opening day. Liam Patterson-White’s unbeaten 76 anchored that innings after the top order fell to 41-5. Surrey seamer Tom Lawes took 5-45, while Daniel Worrall and Matthew Fisher collected two wickets apiece to give the home side an opportunity to move ahead.

Stone prevented that advantage from developing. He had Dom Sibley caught behind for a duck in the opening over of Surrey’s reply, then returned to remove captain Rory Burns for 44. Stone dismissed Ollie Pope for a five-ball duck later in the same over, leaving Surrey 84-4 and shifting the match firmly toward Nottinghamshire.

Adam Thomas made 48 from 93 balls, the highest score of Surrey’s innings, but Stone bowled him with the total on 113. Mahipal Lomror fell to Stone for a first-ball duck one delivery later. The bowler completed his six-wicket haul by dismissing Lawes for 18 as Surrey were bowled out 22 runs short of Nottinghamshire’s first-innings total.

The supporting attack kept the pressure on. Dillon Pennington returned 2-28, while Brett Hutton and Patterson-White took one wicket each. Surrey lost their final six wickets for 78 runs after Burns departed, and no partnership reached 30 after the third-wicket stand between Burns and Thomas.

Why it matters is Nottinghamshire’s position entering the second half of the four-day match. Ben Slater made 37 in the second innings, while Joe Clarke was unbeaten on 37 and Jack Haynes was 34 not out at the close. Worrall took 2-18 and Fisher claimed the other wicket, but an unbroken 70-run fourth-wicket partnership between Clarke and Haynes carried Nottinghamshire to a substantial lead with seven wickets still available.
