Edgbaston Ashes tickets reach £115 as BBC examines rising sports prices
The minimum price for a non-member adult to attend a day of Ashes cricket at Edgbaston has reached £115 for 2027, compared with £65 when the ground hosted Australia in 2023, BBC Sport reported on Thursday. The £50 increase features in the broadcaster's examination of rising admission costs across major sporting events.

BBC Sport's report also identifies higher prices at Wimbledon and Silverstone. The most expensive standard tickets for the 2027 Wimbledon singles finals will cost £400, up £50 from 2026. British Grand Prix raceday general admission starts at £289, compared with £189 in 2021. Those figures concern different types of admission and are not directly equivalent products.
Edgbaston told the BBC it was facing increased costs and described its entry-level prices as broadly tracking inflation since Australia's previous visit. Elsewhere, R&A chief executive Mark Darbon said the cost of staging The Open had risen by 25% over five or six years. He told the broadcaster that ticket sales account for less than a fifth of the championship's total revenue.
Edgbaston's official ballot information sets out the remaining purchase timetable for its 2027 major fixtures. The ballot closed on 29 September, and the buying window for successful entrants opened on 1 October. General sale is scheduled for 10am on 14 October. The venue says tickets will be sold in order of purchase and makes clear that availability is not guaranteed.
The ground's ticket guidance also distinguishes ballot prices from membership discounts. It says its published major-match price list applies to ballot winners, while 2027 members receive discounts of either 5% or 20%, depending on their membership category. Warwickshire membership also includes priority access ahead of general sale, according to the venue. The reported £115 non-member figure therefore should not be treated as a price applying to every buyer.
Edgbaston is scheduled to stage the third men's Ashes Test from 8 to 12 July 2027. Its other major matchdays include T20 Blast Finals Day on 17 July, the third women's Ashes one-day international on 20 July and England men's opening ODI against New Zealand on 14 September. Those fixtures are listed separately in the venue's ballot and ticket information.
