Nadal Stuns Alcaraz in Three-Hour Monte Carlo Masters Quarterfinal Epic
Rafael Nadal defeated Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(5) in a thrilling all-Spanish quarterfinal at the Monte Carlo Masters, advancing to the semifinals in his first tournament since March.

Rafael Nadal continued his remarkable comeback story at the Monte Carlo Masters on Saturday, defeating fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(5) in a three-hour quarterfinal battle that had the Clay Court Championship grounds buzzing with excitement. The 38-year-old tennis legend showed glimpses of his dominant best, particularly in the crucial moments of the decisive third-set tiebreak.

Watch the highlights:

The match began with Nadal asserting his authority on his favorite surface, breaking Alcaraz's serve twice to claim the opening set 6-3. However, Alcaraz responded with renewed intensity in the second set, converting on his third break point opportunity to level the match at one set apiece.

The decisive third set saw both players exchange breaks before the match headed to a dramatic tiebreak. Nadal's experience proved invaluable as he raced to a 5-2 lead before Alcaraz mounted a comeback, narrowing the gap to 5-4. However, Nadal held his nerve, clinching the match on his second match point.

Nadal, who entered this tournament ranked 15th in the world after battling injuries over the past two years, spoke about the significance of the victory: "This is very special. To beat someone of Carlos's caliber, especially in these conditions, means everything to me. The Monte Carlo crowd has always been incredible to me, and today I felt the love from every corner of the stadium."

Alcaraz, currently ranked third in the world, acknowledged his opponent's performance: "Rafael played incredible tennis today. His serve in the tiebreak was exceptional. I knew it would be tough, but I gave everything I had. He's still one of the greatest competitors in tennis history."

Nadal will face either Jannik Sinner or Casper Ruud in the semifinals on Sunday, as he continues his pursuit of a record 12th Monte Carlo Masters title.
