Charlton Stay Perfect as Southampton and Norwich Deliver Big Home Wins

Charlton moved to the top of the Championship by beating Preston 1-0 and preserving the division’s only 100% record. The winning start is Charlton’s best opening to a second-tier season since 1992-93. Manager Nathan Jones nevertheless played down any early promotion talk, pointing to the small number of games completed. Swansea also continued an unbeaten league start, winning 3-0 at Derby through goals from Joseph Opoku, Eom Ji-sung and Ronald. Opoku’s opener was his second goal since arriving from Zulte Waregem, while Ronald scored in second-half added time. QPR joined Swansea on seven points after Paul Smyth and Jimmy Dunne overturned Blackburn’s lead in a 2-1 away victory.

Elsewhere, Will Lankshear scored twice as Middlesbrough beat West Brom 3-1, taking his total to six goals in five games since moving from Tottenham. Norwich earned its first league victory of the season with a 4-1 win over Burnley, with Mo Touré and Andre Brooks each scoring twice. Lincoln also secured a notable result at Bolton: Ben House’s 66th-minute goal delivered a 1-0 win and the club’s first second-tier victory since April 1961.
