England will meet France, Austria and Portugal in the 2027 Women's Nations League after the draw in Nyon, Switzerland, BBC Sport reported. Sarina Wiegman's side were placed in Group A2, with their campaign scheduled across international windows in February-March, April and June. Each country will play the other three at home and away.

The competition, now approaching its third edition, also forms part of the qualification pathway for the 2028 Olympic Games and Euro 2029. The four group winners in League A will advance to semi-finals in October 2027, with a subsequent final deciding the Nations League title. England therefore need to finish above all three opponents to reach that stage.
Wiegman highlighted France's combination of physical strength and technical ability in comments carried by the BBC. She pointed to the quality of players competing in the Women's Super League and other leading clubs, describing the challenge of facing France as an opportunity for her team to improve. France and Austria have both been opponents for England in recent major-tournament qualifying campaigns.
Portugal are also familiar opposition from the previous Nations League campaign. Wiegman recalled England drawing away and winning at home against them before the last European Championship. Her assessment emphasised Portugal's ability to switch between keeping possession and a more direct approach, alongside the individual quality and strength in duels available within their team.
Elsewhere in League A, Scotland were drawn in Group A4 with Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. The Republic of Ireland will play Spain, Norway and Switzerland in Group A1, while Wales face Denmark, Italy and Iceland in Group A3. Each of those groups offers one semi-final place, under the same group-winner qualification route as England's section.
Northern Ireland were placed in Group B3 alongside Poland, Finland and Belarus. Although the draw has established the opposition and the broad calendar for England's campaign, individual fixture dates and venues have not yet been confirmed. Those details will be announced in due course, according to the BBC report.
