Wales draw Denmark and Italy on Women's Nations League return
Wales will face Denmark, Italy and Iceland on their return to League A. Scotland were drawn with Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden as the 2027 Women's Nations League groups were confirmed.

Wales will return to the top tier of the Women's Nations League in a group containing Denmark, Italy and Iceland after Tuesday's draw in Nyon. The group allocation, confirmed by England Football's published draw, places Rhian Wilkinson's team in League A Group 3 for the competition beginning in 2027.

Watch the highlights:

Denmark and Italy are familiar opponents for Wales. BBC Sport reported that both teams beat the Welsh side twice in the 2025 competition, when home and away draws with Sweden were not enough to avoid relegation. Wales finished bottom of that group but earned their return by going unbeaten against the Czech Republic, Albania and Montenegro to win Group B1 in World Cup qualifying.

Scotland were placed in Group 4 alongside Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. According to BBC Sport, Melissa Andreatta's team were among the lowest-seeded sides in League A. The draw also gives Scotland another meeting with Sweden beyond their separate World Cup play-off in December, adding a further competitive encounter between the two national teams.

Germany and the Netherlands were also Scotland's opponents in the 2025 Nations League. BBC Sport recorded German victories of 6-1 and 4-0, while Scotland lost 2-1 at home to the Dutch before drawing 1-1 in Tilburg. Their most recent meeting with Sweden was a 2021 friendly in Paisley, which the visitors won 2-0.

Elsewhere in League A, England Football confirmed that Sarina Wiegman's side will meet France, Austria and Portugal in Group 2. Group 1 contains Spain, Norway, the Republic of Ireland and Switzerland. Northern Ireland were drawn in League B Group 3 with Poland, Finland and Belarus.

Teams will play their group opponents at home and away. The published calendar schedules the opening two matchdays between 23 February and 6 March, the next pair between 13 and 24 April, and the final group games between 7 and 15 June. Individual fixture details have yet to be confirmed.

The four League A group winners will advance to the semi-finals in October. England Football's announcement schedules the final and third-place play-off for the November-December window, completing the competition's third edition.
