Tom Bowen double powers Cardiff to 26-0 derby win over Ospreys
Cardiff scored four tries in a 26-0 win at Ospreys, with Tom Bowen crossing twice. The bonus-point victory left Cardiff seventh before the URC's five-week break.

Tom Bowen scored twice as Cardiff beat Ospreys 26-0 at St Helen's, securing a bonus-point victory that returned them to the top half of the United Rugby Championship. Josh Adams and teenage hooker Tom Howe also crossed for the visitors in Swansea. According to BBC Sport Wales' match report, Cardiff ended the opening block of league fixtures in seventh place, with Ospreys ninth.

Watch the highlights:

Bowen supplied the first two tries, opening the scoring after sustained Cardiff pressure and then finishing a move from a scrum. Between those scores, Ospreys thought prop Steffan Thomas had forced his way over. The try was initially awarded but overturned following a television review, which found that Cardiff scrum-half Johan Mulder had stopped the ball being grounded.

Centre Steffan Emanuel helped Cardiff extend their advantage before the interval. After an earlier break and kick had been covered by the home defence, he set up Adams with another kick following a turnover penalty won by Dan Thomas. Cardiff reached half-time 19-0 ahead. Ospreys also lost flanker Ross Moriarty to a head injury, with Morgan Morse coming on in his place.

Ospreys applied pressure through their scrum early in the second half, prompting Cardiff to introduce props Scott Sio and Javan Sebastian. Home co-captain Sam Parry was subsequently held up over the line, while Cardiff were warned about repeated penalties. Adams received treatment for a knee problem but continued playing, according to the BBC report; it did not establish any longer-term injury consequences.

Howe contributed at both ends after coming off the bench. The 18-year-old won a turnover penalty before being driven over for Cardiff's fourth try, securing the bonus point and the only score of the second half. Emanuel then prevented Keelan Giles from scoring with a covering tackle in the closing seconds, preserving the visitors' shutout.

A sell-out crowd of 5,592 attended the second match at the revamped St Helen's ground, following Ospreys' opening win there against Dragons. Both sides were missing Wales squad members ahead of the November internationals, while Ospreys also lost fly-half Lawson Creighton to a late groin injury withdrawal. Harri Wilde, on loan from Cardiff, started against his parent club. The URC now pauses for five weeks while the Nations Championship takes place.
