Seahawks end Chiefs' unbeaten start with commanding 20-3 win
Seattle ended Kansas City's unbeaten start to the NFL season with a 20-3 home victory on Sunday, October 25. The Seahawks improved to 4-3 and stopped a two-game losing streak, while the Chiefs slipped to 5-1. According to the Seahawks' official match report, Jaxon Smith-Njigba's receiving production and a defense that kept Kansas City out of the end zone drove the result.
Watch the highlights:
Smith-Njigba finished with nine receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown, including a 28-yard scoring catch from Sam Darnold in the second quarter. Darnold completed 20 of 28 attempts for 257 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. Emanuel Wilson supplied 100 rushing yards on 24 carries and scored on a 21-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Kenneth Walker III managed only 36 yards on 14 carries against his former team. Seattle also pressured Patrick Mahomes into a turnover: the club's report credited Nick Emmanwori with hitting the quarterback as he released a pass that Ty Okada intercepted. Kansas City finished without a touchdown.
The Football Database's scoring summary shows Seattle led 10-0 at halftime after a Jason Myers field goal and Smith-Njigba's touchdown. Myers added another field goal in the third quarter before Harrison Butker supplied Kansas City's only points with a 50-yard kick. Wilson's fourth-quarter touchdown then extended a 13-3 advantage to the final 17-point margin.
The box score also underlined Seattle's control of possession. The Seahawks recorded 24 first downs to Kansas City's 11 and gained 410 total yards against 213. Seattle converted 11 of 16 third downs, compared with three of 11 for the Chiefs, and held the ball for 35 minutes, 51 seconds. Kansas City had possession for 24:09.
Seattle's separate injury update reported that receiver Rashid Shaheed missed the second half with a knee injury and left tackle Charles Cross departed in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. Coach Mike Macdonald offered no immediate assessment beyond confirming neither finished the game. Their severity and any recovery timetable remained unconfirmed in that update.
