Saka sparks Arsenal surge as Lille beaten 3-0 in Champions League
Bukayo Saka scored and supplied an assist after coming off the bench as Arsenal defeated Lille. Three goals in seven second-half minutes settled the match.

Arsenal beat Lille 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, October 13, with all three goals arriving between the 64th and 71st minutes. According to Sky Sports, Jurrien Timber broke the deadlock before Eberechi Eze and substitute Bukayo Saka scored to secure another Champions League victory for Mikel Arteta's side.

Watch the highlights:

Arteta made five changes from the team that defeated Leeds, and Arsenal initially struggled to convert their opportunities. Bruno Guimaraes and Eze both missed first-half chances. Timber eventually put the hosts ahead after receiving a pass from Noni Madueke, controlling the ball and lifting his finish over Lille goalkeeper Berke Ozer.

Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz entered after the opening goal. Saka supplied Eze for Arsenal's second in the 67th minute, then finished from Havertz's cut-back four minutes later. Sky Sports reported that Arteta said Saka had been feeling unwell but still wanted to contribute. His goal came only six minutes after he was introduced.

The result also extended a sustained European run. Opta reported that Arsenal have now won 14 consecutive Champions League matches in the group stage or league phase, recording nine clean sheets during that sequence. This victory followed their win over Napoli, maintaining their unbeaten start to the current campaign with a second success.

For Saka, the evening brought another step up Arsenal's European scoring list. Opta puts him on 19 goals in major European competitions, behind only Thierry Henry's 42 for the club. His assist was his ninth in the Champions League, placing him alongside Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott, with only Henry and Cesc Fabregas ahead.

Lille had an Ayase Ueda finish disallowed for offside and ended without a shot on target. Opta said this was only their second such Champions League match in records dating to 2003-04. David Raya marked his 38th European Cup or Champions League appearance for Arsenal with a clean sheet, drawing level with David Seaman's total among the club's goalkeepers.
