Olise double caps France's late 4-1 comeback against Belgium
Michael Olise scored twice as France overturned Belgium's lead with four late goals. The victory leaves France three points clear at the top of Nations League Group A1.

France recovered from a first-half deficit to beat Belgium 4-1 at the Stade de France on Monday, with Michael Olise scoring twice in the closing stages. Reuters reported that all four French goals came from substitutes, as Zinedine Zidane's side retained first place in Nations League Group A1 after a match transformed late on.

Watch the highlights:

Dodi Lukebakio put Belgium ahead in the 35th minute, leaving the visitors with an advantage they held well into the second half. Real Madrid's match report said France had controlled possession from the outset but still had to chase the game. Eduardo Camavinga started for the hosts and played 88 minutes in this fourth group fixture in Saint-Denis.

The equaliser arrived in the 77th minute when Désiré Doué struck a left-footed shot from outside the penalty area. Four minutes later, Rayan Cherki finished from an Olise assist to move France in front. According to Reuters, Olise then scored from close range in the 88th minute before adding another in the first minute of stoppage time, converting Doué's pass through the Belgian goalkeeper's legs.

The substitutions were central to the turnaround. Le Parisien reported that Olise, Cherki, Lucas Da Cunha and then Doué entered around the hour mark and afterwards, changing the course of a difficult evening for France. Three of those replacements supplied the goals that turned a home defeat into a win, with Doué also creating the final finish for Olise.

France now have 10 points, three more than Italy, who defeated Turkey 3-1 on Monday, Reuters reported. Belgium remain third with six points, while Turkey have none. France's late recovery therefore preserved their position at the head of the group, rather than allowing Belgium to take the points after leading for much of the contest.

Le Parisien reported that the result leaves France with three victories and one draw from the international window. Their remaining group assignments next month are a trip to Italy and a home meeting with Turkey in Bordeaux. Those fixtures will determine their progress towards the quarter-finals after the win over Belgium strengthened their position going into the final two games.
