Lando Norris believes Max Verstappen will remain in F1 longer than many predict
Lando Norris has shared his belief that fellow Formula 1 star Max Verstappen will remain in the sport far longer than many critics suggest, contrary to speculation about potential early retirement.
Watch the highlights:
Speaking at the Miami Grand Prix venue on Wednesday, Norris stated: "Everyone keeps saying Max might quit soon or get bored, but I think that's completely wrong. The guy loves racing, loves competition, and loves winning. Those things don't go away."
Verstappen, 27, has dominated Formula 1 since 2021, winning four consecutive World Championships. Recent rumors have suggested the Red Bull driver might consider stepping away from the sport within the next few years, but Norris dismissed such speculation.
"Max and I have had these conversations. He's competitive in a way that doesn't fade. When you're still winning and still fighting for championships, why would you leave?" Norris explained.
The McLaren driver, who has developed a rivalry with Verstappen over recent seasons, noted that the Dutchman's passion for racing remains as strong as ever. "You see how he reacts to losing, how he attacks every weekend. That's not someone who's losing interest. If anything, he's hungrier than when I first raced against him."
Verstappen recently signed a contract extension through 2028, though many within the paddock believe he could be open to exploring other opportunities if Red Bull's competitiveness declines.
Norris concluded: "People underestimating how long Max will stay is a mistake. He loves this too much. We're going to be racing each other for a very long time."
