London Marathon 2026: Record-Breaking Field Expected as Route Details and Start Times Confirmed
The London Marathon 2026 is set to draw a record field with new route adjustments, early morning start times for elite runners, and celebrity runner Harry Styles drawing widespread attention.

The London Marathon 2026 is primed to witness a historic edition as organizers confirmed a record-breaking field will take to the streets of the capital on Sunday. With over 50,000 runners expected to participate, this year's event surpasses previous records and showcases the continued growth of participatory sports in Britain.

Watch the highlights:

Elite race start times have been adjusted to accommodate the new route modifications introduced last year, with the men's and women's elite fields beginning at 10:00 BST. The wheelchair races will commence earlier at 09:50, while the mass participation wave starts at 10:15 from Greenwich Park. Runners will traverse iconic landmarks including the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, and The Thames before finishing outside Buckingham Palace on The Mall.

Among the most talked-about participants is pop star Harry Styles, who has reportedly entered the event through a charity places allocation. While neither Styles nor his team have confirmed the reports, sources close to the singer suggest he has been undergoing rigorous training in preparation. Should he compete, Styles would join a growing list of celebrities using the London Marathon as a platform for charitable fundraising.

The 2026 course retains its reputation as one of the world's fastest marathon routes while incorporating subtle changes to reduce bottlenecks in the early miles. World Athletics Elite Label status has been awarded to the event, ensuring competitive fields in both the men's and women's elite categories.

Race Director Hugh Brasher stated: "We are delighted to welcome a record field for this year's London Marathon. The new timing structure will create optimal conditions for elite competitors while ensuring an unforgettable experience for all participants." Registration for charity places remains open, with the event supporting over 1,000 charitable causes.

Weather forecasts indicate ideal racing conditions with temperatures expected between 10-14 degrees Celsius and light winds, potentially facilitating fast times across all categories.
