Kerr's Double Helps Chelsea Ease Past Everton in Crucial WSL Encounter
Australian striker Sam Kerr nets twice as Chelsea secure a comfortable victory over Everton, moving within touching distance of league leaders Manchester United.

Australian superstar Sam Kerr delivered a masterclass in front of goal, scoring twice to propel Chelsea to a commanding 2-0 victory over Everton in a pivotal Women's Super League match that significantly strengthens their title credentials with just six games remaining in the season.

Watch the highlights:

The first goal arrived in the 23rd minute when Kerr latched onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Erin Cuthbert, composing herself before slotting past the onrushing Everton goalkeeper with her trademark finish. The Australian showed remarkable composure, given the high-stakes nature of the fixture.

Kerr's second strike came 12 minutes into the second half, this time a towering header from a Guro Reiten corner that gave Everton no chance of recovery. The 31-year-old's positioning in the box has been exceptional all season, and today's clinical display took her tally to 18 league goals—putting her firmly in contention for the Golden Boot award.

Chelsea's defensive organization was equally impressive, with captain Millie Bright marshalling the back four to record their ninth clean sheet in 14 league matches. Everton, to their credit, created several promising counter-attacking opportunities but lacked the final quality to trouble Ann-Katrin Berger in the Chelsea goal.

"Sam is simply unplayable on her day," Chelsea manager said post-match, visibly delighted with the performance. "Her movement, her finishing, her ability to rise to the occasion in big games—that's what separates world-class players from the rest. We're in a strong position now, but we know Manchester United won't give up the title without a fight."

The victory sends Chelsea to 42 points from 14 games, just three behind Manchester United who have played two games more. With the Champions League semi-final against Lyon looming next week, Kerr's fitness and form couldn't be better timed for the London club's pursuit of multiple trophies this season.
